Roly Poly

Last month, at 4 months old, Noah rolled over for the first time. John and I were so excited. We took pictures. We clapped. We cheered. Noah looked at us like we were crazy.

And while this is an exciting new development for Noah, it's brought on some new challenges as well. You see, Noah loves rolling over so much that he does it while he's sleeping. Thing is, he doesn't yet know how to roll onto his back, so when he rolls onto his stomach in the middle of the night, he freaks out. And just like when he was a newborn, he seems to want to do this at 3 am (this must be his favorite time to do anything). It's also been a struggle putting him to bed. Before, his bedtime was 8 pm. We'd put him in his overnight diaper, pajamas, and sleep sack, put in his pacifier and kiss him goodnight. And that was it. Now, we kiss him goodnight and say, "Ok, see you in about 5 minutes." You see, whenever Noah starts crying, we don't rush in there right away. We always time it for 5 minutes because during those 5 minutes he'll usually stop crying and soothe himself to sleep. Well, not anymore. Nowadays, he's usually crying because he's rolled over and can't roll himself back. So we have to go in there and lay him on his back again. But within minutes, he'll roll back over and start crying again. And so this continues from anywhere between 30 minutes to an hour. We are really trying to teach him how to roll onto his back so he won't freak out every time he does this. So lately, we've been practicing a lot of tummy time and giving him little nudges so he'll get the idea to push himself over (it's always something, isn't it?)

Noah Meets the Penguins

SeaWorld was at The Avenues mall this weekend to promote Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin, the park's newest attraction opening May 24 (guess where I'll be May 24). Their advertisements boasted "live penguins" so of course I was gonna take Noah to the mall to meet them. Unfortunately, all I saw was this sad little empty glass case that probably had small live penguins in it, but I guess they were taking a break...? Anyway, I didn't stick around long enough to find out because it was just too crowded!

The only thing John will like about this sign is the Coke.

Of course, I had to wear my penguin blouse and Noah is appropriately dressed in his penguin pants and socks.

Noah the explorer.

They had these cute little hats for the little ones.

Look how thrilled he is to be wearing one.

It's ok, Mommy donned one too so he wouldn't feel so silly.

Meeting the "live" penguin.

Noah and Nolen

Last month, John and I visited our friends Scott and Kelsey and their son Nolen.

If Noah looks concerned in this picture, it's because he is.

You see, Nolen is about 6 weeks older than Noah and he's entering that stage of babyhood where he likes to grab and touch everything.

See what I mean?

Noah got to try out some of Nolen's toys. I'm sure he's super jealous that he doesn't have all these things at home. Wanna see what our "play area" consists of?

That's it. Seriously.

Mamas

And papas.

Nolen's way of saying goodbye. Poor Noah!

It's great having friends who also have a son around Noah's age. I feel like we learn so much from them and it's been a lifesaver having someone I can turn to for advice or share parenthood milestones with.

Black and White and Red All Over

What's black and white and red all over?

Noah and me in matching outfits!

5 Months Postpartum
What I'm Wearing:
Shirt by Lacoste
Pants by 7 For All Mankind
Necklace by J. Crew

What Noah's Wearing:
Onesie by Ralph Lauren
Shoes by Paul Frank

I realized the other day that I had no nice pants for Noah to wear. He only had a couple pajama pants and sweatpants, but no dressy pants to match his nicer tops (I know, what's a mother to do right?) So I set out to H&M and found these super cute chinos in an array of colors. I bought them in red, beige, dark blue stripe, and navy.

Chinos by H&M
$9.95 each

Pants by Bonobos
$88-$98 each

I'm all about dressing John and Noah in matching outfits and recently, John has been digging these pants by Bonobos. So of course, I wanted to buy Noah some pants in fun colors as well to match his equally cute and preppy Daddy :)

Tiny Toms

Zulily recently had a sale on Toms shoes, so I bought a pair of Tiny Toms for Noah to match the pair I already have.

The smallest size they had available was a size 9, which approximately fits a 24-month-old. So it'll be awhile before Noah can wear them, but they're just so cute that I couldn't pass them up. And since I ordered them from Zulily, a site that offers daily sales with discounts up to 90% off retail, I got them for only $18 (originally $29). Be sure to check out www.zulily.com for some amazing deals on cute items for both mom and baby!
