A few weeks ago, I took Noah to his 6-week checkup. Poor thing also had to get his shots.
I would HIGHLY recommend going to this appointment with your husband/wife. You really will need the emotional support. I felt TERRIBLE listening to my Lil Bit scream and cry in pain - I've never heard him cry that hard before. It was heartbreaking! While I was trying to console him, I was wishing that my husband was there to console me! Luckily, though, Noah did not develop a fever, which I'm told is quite common after babies get their shots. However, he was quite fussy in the days following his appointment. But I didn't cave and avoided giving him medicine - trying to hold off on that for as long as possible.
At our latest appointment, he weighed in at 13 pounds 6 ounces, putting him in the 75th percentile for weight. His height, however, is another story. As soon as the doctor and nurse saw him, they were shocked at how long he was. They kept saying, "Wow, your baby is so big for his age!" People tell me this all the time. Honestly, to me, he looks completely average, but I guess that's 'cause I see him everyday, making it difficult for me to notice the changes. He measured 25 inches, and the nurse told me most babies his age only measure 22 inches. So he's in the 99th percentile for height. Not surprising, considering my husband is 6'4". Guess this means he'll be inheriting his Daddy's height!
He's one tall baby.
