Noah by Nikon

This year for Christmas, my Mom got my husband and I the Nikon D3200 camera (aka the Ashton Kutcher camera). So of course, I started taking pictures of my Noah Bear right away. And I must say, it takes pretty awesome photos. Just check out these uber cute shots of Noah:

He's gotten SO much better with tummy time. He used to absolutely hate it and now he just kinda hates it. Every time I laid him down, he would just face plant or let his head droop over the side of his Boppy pillow. And now he actually looks up at us!

Look at that mischievous little smile. Wonder what he's thinking :)

Twins

Before Noah was born, I always wondered what he'd look like. Would he take after John or me? Would he have light skin or dark skin? Blue eyes or brown eyes? A pointed nose like John's or a flatter "Asian" nose like mine? To this day, I still have no idea who he looks like. Honestly, I don't think he looks like either one of us! People always tell me that he definitely looks like me, but I just think they say that because he doesn't look anything like John. I mean, other than the dark hair, I'm not sure what the similarities are. We don't quite share any of the same facial features and his skin is quite light compared to mine.

However, my Mom pointed out that his first baby picture looks very similar to my first baby picture. So we dug out the old picture and put them side-by-side and she was right - we do look quite similar!

Noah on the left, me on the right

Same hair, same facial expression, same eyes, same nose. Yup, he's definitely my son!

Lil Pig

My son loves to eat.

Whenever I tell people how many ounces he eats at each feeding, they're always shocked.

One time, when Noah was only 6 weeks old, I had to feed him 10.5 oz before he was finally satisfied. Most babies only eat about 4.

This is what he looks like after each feeding.

This really alarmed us, so we called our pediatrician's office. The nurse we spoke to said, "That's WAY too much!!! A 6-week-old should only be eating about 4 oz!" She scheduled an appointment for Noah to see the doctor immediately.

Turns out we had nothing to worry about. The doctor said that Noah simply has a high metabolism. He said he would only have been worried if Noah "looked like the Michelin Man" but clearly, he does not. Then I mentioned the nurse we spoke to and he said it really doesn't matter how much he eats per feeding - what really matters is how much he eats in a 24-hour period. On average, he eats about 35 oz, and the doctor said that was completely fine. He did say however that that was more than what most babies his age usually eat, but he said it was perfectly normal for him since he has a high metabolism. Lucky for him in the future if he stays that way - he can eat whatever he wants and not gain much!

Happy Two Months, Noah!

Happy two months to my Noah Bear!

2 Months

9 Weeks Postpartum
What I'm Wearing:
Crystal Eyeglasses Necklace by LC Lauren Conrad
Earrings from Banana Republic

And boy, what a two months it has been...

He weighs about 12 pounds now. His favorite thing to do is EAT! He eats about 5 oz every 2 1/2 hours. I've been trying to get him to sleep through the night, but he still wakes up for his 3 am feeding.

He smiles now, which is always so much fun to see.

Daddy always says he has "the most kissable cheeks." It's true.

A short clip of Noah. About 24 seconds in, he makes the cutest noise, which is my absolute FAVORITE!

Hello Again

8 Weeks Postpartum
What I'm Wearing:
Necklace from J. Crew

Hello everyone! Sorry I've been away so long. As you can imagine, motherhood keeps me quite busy :) Noah and I have been doing very well. He's about 12 pounds now and growing happier and healthier everyday. I'm currently working on getting him to sleep through the night. I'm using the methods from the book On Becoming Babywise, which emphasizes the use of feed-wake-sleep cycles throughout the day. Noah has taken very well to these cycles and has become a MUCH happier and less cranky baby as a result.

He smiles and makes the cutest noises now, which is such a joy. He loves the outdoors and enjoys sitting in his swing on our balcony.

He's the ultimate champion of the staring contest. He seriously never blinks! His eyes are like saucers. Cute during the day, but not so much at 3 am when I'm trying to get him to go back to sleep.

Even though John is currently a student at UF, he hates the Gators. So no, he did not get him this onesie, but a dear friend and former student of ours did - thanks Alex! John doesn't care much for it, but I think he looks adorable in it.

This boy has the most GORGEOUS eyes ever! When he was born, they were grey, and I personally still think they look grey (even when I took him shopping with me the other day, a sales associate in the fitting room exclaimed, "Oh my gosh, are your baby's eyes grey?!")  John, on the other hand, thinks they're beginning to turn brown. In case you never noticed, John's eyes are blue and mine are brown. We've always thought about how cool it would be if Noah's eyes turned blue, but we all know that brown is the dominant color. Either way, he is absolutely gorgeous! I could stare into these eyes all day.
